Join Michigan author Mike Martin for a relaxed morning conversation about his new wilderness memoir, The Honest Wilderness: Finding Daniel Boone and the Frontier Within.
The book grew from more than 30 journals written while Martin hiked and traveled through landscapes connected to Daniel Boone. Blending memoir, frontier history, and outdoor reflection, it explores what happens when the familiar path disappears, an old identity no longer fits, and life asks us to begin again.
During “When the Map No Longer Matches the Landscape,” Martin will discuss the journey behind the book, share a brief reading, and explore what Boone’s wilderness story can still teach us about resilience, identity, healing, and the frontiers we carry within.
The conversation will be followed by audience questions and a book signing. Signed copies will be available for purchase at the event.
